Description

This submission outlines Alberta's concerns regarding the federal government's amendments to the Competition Act resulting from Bill C-59, the Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2023. In it, Alberta identifies significant flaws in the amendments, negative impacts to costs, investment, competitiveness, and regulatory certainty, as well as duplication of legislation and regulations Alberta has in place that ensure accurate and supported environmental reporting. The submission supports Alberta's position that the amendments add new barriers, impede progress to achieving environmental outcomes, and encroach on provincial jurisdiction.

Provides guidance on the recommended use of pivoting traffic signal structures equipped with rotatable bases. These structures are located on portions of the provincial highway system identified as part of the high load corridor to accommodate oversize vehicles, and are generally equipped with rotatable pole bases which allow the signal mast arm to be pivoted out of the way to allow an oversize load to pass through the intersection. Part of a series of recommended practices for traffic control measures, including roadway signs and signals, pavement markings, traffic operations, roadside development and at-grade rail crossings.

Economic corridors are trade corridors that provide vital links to markets in and out of Alberta, supporting economic, social, and environmental activity. This fact sheet describes the Highway 16 Yellowhead corridor, which forms the northern mainline of the Trans-Canada Highway. Highway 16 runs from the Alberta-Saskatchewan border at Lloydminster through Edmonton before reaching the Alberta-British Columbia border west of Jasper and connects to tidewater at the Port of Vancouver and the Port of Prince Rupert. The fact sheet also lists ongoing and proposed work on the corridor as of August 2024.

The timber dues rates applied are based on current market and financial conditions are can be found in Table 1 of the Timber Dues Ministerial Order.
