This resource was developed to assist designers, builders and other users of the Alberta building code, also referenced as the NBC(AE), to meet and possibly exceed – within reason - the current minimum accessibility design standards and practices. The resource explains the intents and objectives of each section of the code, as it relates to accessibility requirements, and recommend best practices where accessibility and safety are concerns to seniors and persons with disabilities.

The intent is to lay a solid foundation for the delivery of accessible, relevant, high-quality, and culturally-safe primary health care led by First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples in Alberta.
