It includes information on course pre-requisites, course administration requirements, instructor qualification requirements, requirements for instructors delivering the agency's training content outside of its jurisdiction, requirements for instructors transferring to Alberta from out-of-province, and requirements for previously qualified and approved instructors.

Description

The Alberta Incident Management Practitioner Training Standards (AIMPTS) is intended to provide clear direction on how individual and collective incident management training is conducted, monitored, and accredited within the Province of Alberta and has been included under Section 6 of the Alberta Emergency Plan (AEP). This standard directly supports the Alberta Incident Management System (AIMS) 2024. The effectiveness of AIMS relies directly on the training of practitioners, ensuring incident personnel at various levels understand their responsibilities within the incident and possess the appropriate skill sets to best support impacted communities.

Description

The Alberta Incident Management System (AIMS) is introduced under the aegis of the Alberta Emergency Plan to improve integration and interoperability within the province’s emergency management system. AIMS is intended to provide all emergency management stakeholders in the province with a common understanding of the organization and structures that will be adopted in Alberta, as well as the processes, procedures, and terminology that will be employed to prevent, mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters.
