The Continuing Care Capital Program provides capital grant funding program to increase continuing care spaces in Alberta. The Indigenous stream of the Program supports the development of continuing care spaces for Indigenous peoples in Alberta, increasing continuing care capacity for Indigenous populations on or off reserves or on or off Metis Settlements. Documents in this package include an outline the application process, a guide with information to assist applicants in the preparation and completion of the business case application form, and the application form itself. Strathcona County’s Social Sustainability Framework identified the need for a seniors plan to prepare for shifting demographics. In response, the County developed the Older Adults Plan, approved by Council on June 30, 2009. The plan uses the community’s strength as a base for building an age-friendly and caring community that values and supports its older residents. The plan promotes aging well, with independence, by providing the right programs, services and supports to meet the needs of older adults. On June 6, 2013, Strathcona County was the first community to receive the Age-Friendly Alberta Recognition Award.
