Forest company forest management plans (FMPs) detail when, where and how timber on Alberta Crown land will be managed in order to balance social, economic and environmental needs based on input from the public, Indigenous peoples and interest groups. The area under consideration is the Forest Management Agreement area of Alberta-Pacific Forest Products Incorporated (Al-Pac), FMA #9100029. The FMA is located in the north eastern part of the province, and spans mainly the Central Mixedwood and Boreal Highlands natural sub-regions, with small portions of the Dry Mixedwood, Lower Foothills and Sub-Artic natural sub-regions included as well.

The forest management planning area under consideration is FMA 9700036. The FMP covers Forest Management Unit S24 located in north central Alberta within the Upper Athabasca Land-Use Framework planning region; it falls within the Central Mixedwood Natural Subregion.
