Technical guidance for the assessment of additionality

Description

The purpose of this document is to provide specific guidance to stakeholders when assessing the additionality of a reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions or sequestration of GHGs under the Alberta emission offset system. In order to demonstrate the additionality of the activities that are included or proposed to be included in the development or revision of an emission offset quantification protocol (“protocol”), the use of the tools contained in this technical guidance is a requirement for both the Alberta Climate Change Office (ACCO) and stakeholders. This document explains both the roles each of these parties play, and the process used for reviewing and assessing additionality during protocol development or revision.
