The 10-year Irrigation District Water Quality Project was conducted to assess the quality of irrigation water in Alberta’s irrigation districts. This fact sheet is part of a series of reports based on data collected during the project, and focuses on the susceptibility of Alberta’s irrigation water to invasive mussels. It outlines the threat of freshwater invasive mussels to Alberta’s aquatic environment and irrigation industry, and what aspects of Alberta’s irrigation water quality make it susceptible to the growth and survival of invasive mussels.
