Description

The purpose of this Bulletin is to explain how the FOIP Act applies to records of elected officials of local public bodies and to appointed officials serving on their governing bodies. The Bulletin will provide guidance on determining when a local public body has custody or control of an official’s records, deciding whether a record is a personal or constituency record, and how to process an access request for records of local public body officials. This Bulletin takes into consideration decisions issued by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta up to December 31, 2008.
