Provincial flood damage assessment study : City of Fort McMurray : damage estimates

Description

Flood damage estimates are required for evaluating the cost effectiveness of projects designed to alleviate flood impacts. The Provincial Flood Damage Assessment Tool enables the standardized calculation of flood damages for varying levels of inundation within a community. Using this tool, a community-specific damage model for different flood frequencies has been developed for the City of Fort McMurray. Direct damages are presented as being caused by overland flooding and sewer backup/groundwater flooding. Indirect damages includes residential displacement, business interruption, and intangible impacts to households.
