Description
This guide provides several suggested best practices to be considered when building a procedure bylaw (or rules for meetings) for a municipality, and shows the connection of these bylaws to the agenda. Both the bylaw and the agenda are an integral part of efficient council meetings and are important to the integrity of a municipality’s operation and meeting conduct. They also ensure a level playing field for anyone attending council or council committee meetings and consistent treatment of residents if any issues arise in a meeting that requires a standard procedure. The guide has been updated to reflect amendments to the Municipal Government Act which impact procedure bylaw and agenda matters.
