Description
The Policy on Consultation with Metis Settlements on Land and Natural Resource Management was developed in consultation with the Metis Settlements General Council and a working group of Settlement leaders, as well as industry stakeholders. It establishes a formal consultation process between Alberta, project proponents and the Metis Settlements. The policy came into force on April 4, 2016 and was amended in April 2020. Implementation of the policy is consistent with Alberta's approach to the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People.
