Usage Considerations
The Municipal Government Board (MGB) makes decisions on disputes between municipalities when one municipality believes that the adoption or amendment of a land use bylaw or statutory plan by an adjacent municipality will cause detriment. Statutory Plans under the Municipal Government Act are defined as Intermunicipal Development Plans, Municipal Development Plans, Area Structure Plans, or Area Redevelopment Plans. These are adopted and amended by bylaw. Where a municipality believes that the adoption or amendment of statutory plans or a land use bylaw by an adjacent municipality may cause it detriment, they may file and appeal with the MGB within 30 days of the adoption of the bylaw.
