Managing treated effluent release under drought conditions

Description

During drought conditions there is less water than usual available to dilute treated wastewater effluent released to surface water. It is the responsibility of the wastewater facility to ensure that they remain compliant with their licence and proactively consider options and alternatives to effluent release. This fact sheet is intended to be a general guidance resource for those who hold an authorization to release wastewater effluent under the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act.
