Description
The Irrigation Districts Act enables the establishment of irrigation districts in Alberta and describes the structure, governance, powers, and duties for the formation and operations of irrigation districts. The purpose of an irrigation district is to: construct, operate, and maintain irrigation works in each district for the conveyance and delivery of water; divert and use of water in accordance with the terms and conditions of license under the Water Act; and, to maintain and promote the economic viability of the district. The Act also establishes the formation, powers, and duties of Irrigation Council.
