Albertans seen in emergency departments for an opioid related disorders

Description

Opioids are generally used to treat acute pain following surgery, chronic pain among people in palliative care, and other conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. This edition of Health Trends Alberta looks at those who had an emergency department visit for an opioid related disorder, and looks at the percentage of cases that did not filled any opioid prescription in the previous year.
