Emergency 911 Act

Description

The Emergency 911 Act authorizes the establishment of a monthly 911 levy on wireless devices that is collected by telecommunication companies and remitted to the Government of Alberta to support 911 Public Safety Answering Points. In addition, the Act authorizes the establishment of province-wide standards and guidelines respecting call taking processes and procedures and establishes fines for frivolous or vexatious 911 calls. The Act also provides the authority for the Emergency 911 Levy Regulation (TBF) and the Emergency 911 Grants Regulation (MA).
