Description
A public health investigation was conducted to study a provincial outbreak of community acquired methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA MRSA) in 2005. This data analysis report presents the findings of the investigation. MRSA is the term for Staphylococcus aureus (S.A.) bacteria that have become resistant to semi-synthetic penicillins such as cloxacillin and methicillin. Infections due to MRSA are associated with significantly higher mortality and costs.
