Bee Act

Description

The Bee Act sets out the framework for the beekeeping (apiculture) industry in Alberta and supports response systems to address threats of disease outbreaks or other emergencies. The Act enables the beekeeper registration system and prohibits importation of bees to Alberta without prior consent. The beekeeping compliance system is outlined including designation and powers of inspectors and authority of the Minister in relation to quarantining bees or equipment. Offences related to, and penalties for, contravention of the Act are described.
