Aquatic environment fact sheet

Description

Environment and Sustainable Resource Development (ESRD) regulates work in or near Alberta's water bodies, including lakes, rivers, streams. creeks. and wetlands. ESRD addresses impacts from this work to the aquatic environment through the approvals process under the provincial Water Act. Section 36 (1) of the Water Act specifies that no person may commence or continue and activity that may impact the aquatic environment except pursuant to an approval.
