Description
The Alberta Blood Contingency Plan provides a framework for a rapid and effective response to a local or widespread shortage of blood components. It is an advisory document intended to guide organizations, committees and individuals responsible for or associated with the management, supply and utilization of blood components for Alberta. The Alberta Plan primarily addresses labile blood components – red blood cells, platelets, plasma and cryoprecipitate - but may be extrapolated to fractionated or recombinant plasma proteins. It is intended to deal with non-routine shortages.
