Description
The Agricultural Service Board Act provides a framework for the establishment of an Agricultural Service Board by council of a municipal district or specialized municipality. Board duties outlined include providing for weed and pest control, soil and water conservation, assisting in the control of animal diseases, encouraging sustainable agriculture to improve the economic viability of producers, promoting agricultural policies that meet the needs of the municipality, and the appointment of an agricultural fieldman to implement and manage agricultural policies, programs, and resources for the municipality. The procedures related to supervision, restoration, or reclamation of land are described in the Act. It also enables funding agreements between the Minister and a council for purposes related to Board duties.
