Quantification protocol for wind-powered electricity generation. Version 1

Description

This quantification protocol is written for the electric facility project operator or project proponent. Some familiarity with, or general understanding of, the operation of a wind electric facility, and associated practices, is expected. The opportunity for generating carbon offsets with this protocol arise from the quantification of reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions resulting from the implementation of facilities that convert the energy in wind into electrical energy as the end product. These opportunities cover several technologies and will be referred to simply as “wind electric facilities” The protocol quantifies the emission reductions based on the generation of an equivalent quantity of electricity from fossil fuel based sources, either at grid-connected or off-grid facilities.
