Description

This document is intended to provide guidance in the development of policies and procedures for reducing the risk of transmitting hepatitis B, hepatitis C, Human Immunodeficiency Virus and other sexually transmitted infections as a result of blood and body fluid exposures (BBFE) in occupational and community settings. It is recognized that the management protocols and recommendations for occupational settings do not differ from the recommendations in non-occupational situations. As such, it is beneficial to establish a single set of guidelines for the management of BBFE in Alberta.
