Victims of crime protocol : what victims of crime can expect from the criminal justice system

Description

The resource is intended to help victims of crime navigate and be fully engaged in the criminal justice system, as well as to enhance their personal safety. The Protocol was developed in response to a recommendation in the Report of the Alberta Victims of Crime Consultation, 2002, accepted by the Alberta Legislature in 2004. It outlines what can be expected from the criminal justice process from the time a crime is reported through the police investigation, court proceedings and, if the accused is found guilty, provincial and federal custody and then probation or parole.
