Direct Compensation for Property Damage Regulation

Description

The Direct Compensation for Property Damage (DCPD) Regulation determines the degree of fault of drivers involved in a collision, for the purpose of determining who is responsible for damages to vehicles and contents. The fault determination rules prescribed under this Regulation cover most accident situations, using diagrams to illustrate specific collision scenarios. The Regulation also permits insurers to offer DCPD coverage deductibles for all classes of vehicles, and it grants some limited rights of indemnification/subrogation for insurers.
