Description
The Adverse Contractual Action Regulation establishes the ‘all comers rule,’ requiring insurers to offer basic coverage to anyone wishing to insure a private passenger vehicle in Alberta. There are very limited and specific circumstances listed in section 555(3) of the Insurance Act where adverse contractual action may be taken, allowing insurers to refuse to provide automobile insurance or cancel an automobile insurance contract. This Regulation defines additional circumstances where insurers may take adverse contractual action.
