Classes of Insurance Regulation

Description

The Classes of Insurance Regulation defines the classes of insurance that insurance companies may be licensed to undertake in Alberta. Currently, the Regulation lists 23 classes of insurance, including automobile insurance and property insurance. In 2008, this list was harmonized with the Canadian Council of Insurance Regulators classes of insurance. As a result of the New Home Buyer Protection Act, the regulation was amended in 2014 to create three new classes of insurance: home warranty, deposit protection, and completion protection.
