  The General Regulation supports the processes established in the Unclaimed Personal Property and Vested Property Act for the return of property that has been abandoned or forgotten to its rightful owner. The Regulation sets out the various exclusions and exemptions from the application of the Act, clarifies how unclaimed property is to be valued, establishes the periods after which certain properties are presumed to be abandoned, sets out notice, reporting and service requirements, establishes the process to be followed in respect of abandoned land, and provides the process claiming abandoned property.
