Complaint Resolution Regulation

Description

The Complaint Resolution Regulation establishes a procedure for insurance companies to address two types of consumer complaints: (1) how a basic (accident benefits and third party liability) automobile insurance premium was determined, and (2) to address disputes regarding the adverse contractual action. An insurance company’s process must include the means and timeframes in which complaints will be received, processed and considered. Automobile insurers are also required, on the request of Alberta’s Superintendent of Insurance, to provide a written report outlining the status and a number of complaints received.
