Description

This regulation is made under the Mines and Minerals Act and describes the compensation allowances payable by the Crown to a lessee when a Crown mineral rights agreement is cancelled under section 8(1)(c) or section 24(b) of the Act. Section 8(1)(c) allows the Minister to cancel, accept the surrender, or refuse to renew a Crown mineral agreement that the Minister deems not to be in the public interest and section 24(b) applies in the case of a misdescribed geological zone. The compensation allowances include: the amount paid to the Crown; development allowance; reclamation allowance; and interest allowance.
