Description

The subsurface remediation guidelines for underground storage tanks have been developed to assist both regulators and the owners and operators of underground storage tanks in the management of sites contaminated as a result of the underground storage of petroleum products. Implementation of these guidelines will facilitate the application of uniform standards to the clean-up of both active and reclaimed UST sites in Alberta. The methodology has been developed to provide flexibility in the approach to remediation while ensuring the protection of human health and the environment.
