Description
The Premier’s Advisory Council on Health was established in August 2000 to provide strategic advice to the Premier on the preservation and future enhancement of quality health services for Albertans and on the continuing sustainability of the publicly funded health system. The Council was asked to assess the sustainablility of the health system and to propose potential approaches and strategies to ensure this sustainability. This report presents the results of the work of the Council. It tackles issues of sustainability, improving access, and improving the overall health of Albertans. It recommends steps to be taken to improve the health care system, sets out fundamental changes in how to organize and deliver health services, and outlines options for deciding how to adequately fund Alberta's health system going forward.
