Statistics Canada has adopted an open licence which allows this product to be accessible to all GOA employees and to the general public. This product has been reproduced and distributed on an “as is“ basis with the permission of Statistics Canada. It was originally acquired by Alberta Treasury Board and Finance. It should be noted that the methodology used in the years prior to 1981 is not directly comparable to the methodology employed after 1981. From 1971 to 1975, only Montréal, Ottawa-Gatineau, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton were included in the sample. Halifax, St. Catharines-Niagara, Kitchener, London, Regina and Saskatoon were added to the sample in 1975. St. John's, Saint John-Moncton-Fredericton, Québec, Hamilton, Windsor, Sudbury & Thunder Bay, Vancouver and Victoria were added in 1976. Charlottetown was added to the sample only in 1995.
