Description

This dataset is a customization of Statistics Canada data to present information on labour force estimates by detailed age groups, sex, education level, country of birth, and immigrant status in Canada and provinces using annual averages from 2006 to 2014. The labour force characteristics presented on are population, employment, full-time employment and part-time employment, unemployment, participation rate, and employment rate.

Usage Considerations

Labour Force Survey data are collected by Statistics Canada and are used to produce the well-known unemployment rate as well as other standard labour market indicators such as the employment rate and the participation rate. The Labour Force Survey also provides employment estimates by industry, occupation, public and private sector, hours worked and much more, all cross-classifiable by a variety of demographic characteristics. Estimates are produced for Canada, the provinces, the territories and a large number of sub-provincial regions. For employees, data on wage rates, union status, job permanency and establishment size are also produced.
