Notes: Total Fertility Rate (TFR) is the average number of children a thousand women would have if they experienced the age specific fertility rates of a given year through their lifetimes. Age-Specific Fertility Rates are calculated by dividing births to women of a specific age by the female population of that age. Total Fertility Rate is the sum of the age-specific rates. The estimation of births by mother's age used in these calculations represents all births to Alberta residents, including those that occurred outside the province.
