PDD - Caseload by Service Type

Description

The Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) program provides services to help adults with developmental disabilities live as independently as possible in their communities.

The data goes back to April 2018 and tracks how many individuals are accessing PDD services by service type (e.g., home living, employment, and community access) monthly across the province.

Usage Considerations

This data reflects the number of individuals who received supports and services from the PDD program by the type of service.

 

The monthly count is based on an average count for the reference month and the 11 previous months. Individuals are counted when an invoice for a service is paid in the month. This method is used to address monthly invoicing fluctuations for a more accurate reflection of the number of individuals receiving a service type.

 

PDD service types include:

 

Home living, which provides support provided in a wide range of environments to assist Individuals to live as independently as possible in an environment of their choice. This includes a variety of options such as:

  • An Individual receiving staff supports in their own home.

  • An Individual sharing a home with a person or people that provide the paid services to the Individual.

  • An Individual who lives in a home that is staffed overnight. Other Individuals can also reside in the home and share services.

  • Respite services that provide a temporary break for primary, non-paid and paid caregivers.

 

Employment Services support individuals to gain and maintain participation in Alberta’s labour market. This includes two services, Employment Preparation and Employment Maintenance services.

 

Community Access services support individuals to be included in community activities and promote personal development through arts, education, recreation, community programs and participation in the volunteer sector.
