Description

This dataset is a customization of Statistics Canada data to present information on Aboriginal identity, age group, Indian status, area of residence, and sex for the population in private households in Alberta and the Northern Alberta Development Council (NADC) based on the 2011 National Household Survey.

Usage Considerations

  • National Household Survey data are collected by Statistics Canada and provides social and economic information, covering such topics as immigration, citizenship, place of birth, ethnic origin, visible minorities, religion, Aboriginal peoples, labour, education, place of work, commuting to work, mobility and migration, language of work, income, earnings, housing and shelter costs.

  • More information about the National Household Survey can be found on the Statistics Canada website, at https://www12.statcan.gc.ca/nhs-enm/2011/dp-pd/prof/index.cfm?Lang=E

  • Statistics Canada has adopted an open licence which allows this product to be accessible to all GOA employees and to the general public.  This product has been reproduced and distributed on an “as is “ basis with the permission of Statistics Canada.   It was originally acquired by Alberta Aboriginal Relations.

  • Geographies for the NADC have been updated and reconciled to 2011 Standard Geography Classification.
