Description

Deeming order from the Workers' Compensation Board stipulating the conditions under which participants in Alberta Labour and Immigration-funded training programs and employment services are deemed to be workers of the Government of Alberta, for the sole purpose of receiving workers' compensation benefits under the Workers' Compensation Act. A deeming order issued by the Workers' Compensation Board declares persons to be workers of an organization under the Alberta Workers' Compensation Act where these persons may be the worker of some other entity or not otherwise be eligible for Workers' Compensation benefits and entitlements.

Contains the results, conclusions, and recommendations from a three-year funded study of psychosocial health outcomes and factors in the non-profit child and family services sector in Alberta. The report describes two surveys (2015 and 2017) of three health outcomes (job satisfaction, overall health, and levels of stress). The second survey also measured the effect of a year of intervention activities by the project in the sector. The main finding is that an information-based, systematic approach to wellness (psychological health) holds promise for increasing the capacity for wellness in the entire industry.

Presents the findings of an investigation into a workplace fatality in the construction and construction trades sector that occurred in September 2017. A skid steer operator was spreading gravel inside the garage of a new construction home. The operator inadvertently activated the joystick causing the bucket arms to move. The left arm of the skid steer contacted the operator’s head and neck causing fatal injuries.
