Description

Under the Post-Secondary Learning Act, the boards of all public post-secondary institutions and independent academic institutions must enter into an investment management agreement with the Minister of Advanced Education. These agreements must include the mandate of the institution, performance metrics for the institution, and anything else determined by the Minister. The agreements are the primary accountability instrument of a performance-based funding model for Alberta's post-secondary system and incentivize institutions to work collectively to achieve the goals of Alberta 2030. This record contains all signed investment management agreements for the period 2022-2025.

The Reform of Agencies, Boards and Commissions (Post-secondary Institutions) Compensation Regulation, which came into force on April 15, 2018, was amended effective April 1, 2021. The Regulation brings consistency and clarity to the approach of setting executive compensation at post-secondary institutions. This handbook provides additional clarity on the meaning and intent of the regulatory compensation provisions, policy direction and information. It is intended for the use of Government of Alberta departments and public agencies, specifically post-secondary institutions which are applying the regulation.
