The Superintendent of Schools Regulation sets out the qualifications that an individual must meet in order to be appointed as a school board superintendent or acting superintendent. The Regulation also provides for Minister approval of the superintendent appointment and sets out terms and conditions of employment including a compensation framework.

The School Transportation Regulation sets out the requirements respecting student transportation and limits on transportation fees. The regulation contains the eligibility requirement for transportation services and requires school boards to create policies which include: the need to charge the fees, dispute resolution and the process to request a fee waiver or fee refund. Boards must also establish a transportation fee schedule and publish their policies and fee schedule to provide notice to parents and the public.

The Teachers’ and Private School Teachers’ Pension Plans Regulation, together with parts of the Teachers’ Pension Plan Act, establishes the plan rules for the Teachers’ Pension Plan and the Private School Teachers’ Pension Plan. The Regulation identifies who is eligible to be a member of the pension plan, required member and employer contributions to the pension plan, rules for calculating pensionable service and the benefits to be received by the pension recipient and/or the recipient’s survivors. It also addresses matters such as early retirement, termination of employment prior to pension eligibility, cost-of-living increases, and pension payment provisions.

The Regulation addresses the criteria required for registration, accreditation and funding of such schools, obligations regarding school policies, proposed programs of study, teacher and principal qualifications, learning outcomes to be achieved, student assessment, health and safety standards, and annual planning and reporting. Additional requirements are specified for funded private schools, such as development of governance and financial management policies, and requirements for compensation, contracting, reporting and accounting of public funding.
