This report provides an analysis and evaluation of drinking water safety plan risk assessment data, voluntarily submitted from communities throughout Alberta. The goal of the project was to identify the top key risks in drinking water safety plans completed to date, potential means of controlling the top key risks, and risk assessment improvements as part of the ongoing support provided to operators undertaking drinking water safety plan assessments.

Earth tech (Canada) Inc. was retained by Alberta Environment to complete a study of the operating conditions at several water treatment plants within the County of Vermilion River. As well, several models were developed that could be used to provide regional or intermunicipal cooperation for the operation and maintenance of drinking water supply systems. The study includes a series of recommendations and two memoranda of understanding that will assist in the development of an operator consortium.
