Description
The lake sturgeon, a large freshwater fish that inhabits large rivers and lakes in Canada from the St. Lawrence estuary in Quebec, west to central Alberta and north to Hudson Bay, is listed as Endangered in Alberta. The goal of this recovery plan is to enhance and protect self-sustaining populations of the lake sturgeon within its current range in the North Saskatchewan and South Saskatchewan River drainages of Alberta. The plan provides background information on the lake sturgeon, describes the threats facing the species, outlines proposed strategies to address these threats, and presents an action plan that lists priority actions required to maintain and restore the species.
