The peregrine falcon, a migratory bird of prey once listed as Endangered, is now listed as Threatened in Alberta in recognition of an increasing population and demonstrated improvements in reproductive performance. The goals of this recovery plan include the attainment of a well-distributed, average population of 70 territorial pairs of peregrine falcons in Alberta by 2010. The DRAFT recovery plan outlines the associated outcome, progress measure and recovery action for each strategy.

In August 2017, the Government of Alberta Decontamination Protocol was introduced as a management strategy to reduce the spread of whirling disease and other aquatic invasive species and fish diseases. In 2018 Alberta Environment and Parks began work to expand the decontamination protocols to include industrial operations working in or near water in Alberta. A draft policy and tracking template were developed. This record contains the draft documents and background materials provided to elicit informed public feedback through an online survey and public information sessions during the Fall of 2018.

Alberta Environment and Parks Policy and Operations Divisions for Fisheries Management have identified the need to update the province’s Fisheries Management Program to align with Alberta’s Fish Conservation and Management Strategy. As part of this fisheries management initiative, a draft was developed for Recreational Fisheries Management Frameworks for Northern Pike and Walleye. In Phase One of this project, public feedback received on key management questions. In Phase Two, feedback on these draft management frameworks. In Phase Three, consultation on some of the waters where fish populations are at a low to moderate risk status for long-term sustainability, and where new Recreational Fisheries Management Objectives (RFMO) are being proposed.

The intent and focus of these sessions was to provide an understanding on approaches being considered to support caribou conservation and recovery, and to listen to citizens living in communities that have a direct interest in caribou range planning.
