Alberta Education conducts a set of annual telephone surveys to obtain feedback from education system partners regarding their perceptions of Alberta’s education system. Respondents for the 2021 surveys include senior high school students, self-identified First Nations, Métis and Inuit high school students, parents of students in the Early Childhood Services (ECS)–Grade12 education system, parents of self-identified First Nations, Métis and Inuit students, parents of students with severe disabilities, teachers in the ECS–Grade12 system, principals, school board trustees, and the general public.

Alberta Education conducts a set of annual telephone surveys to obtain feedback from education system partners regarding their perceptions of Alberta’s education system. Respondents for the 2020 surveys include senior high school students, self-identified First Nations, Métis and Inuit high school students, parents of students in the K–12 education system, parents of self-identified First Nations, Métis and Inuit students, parents of students with severe disabilities, teachers in the K–12 system, school board trustees, and the general public. The surveys were conducted by CCI Research from the first week of March to last week of July 2020.

This report presents the results on 34 survey measure indicators identified by the Review Committee on Outcomes (RCO). The survey questions were part of the 2020 Satisfaction with Education in Alberta Surveys of senior high school students, parents of Kindergarten to Grade 12 students, teachers, school board trustees, and the general public. Note that Principal and Superintendent Surveys although part of the RCO measure indicators were not administered in 2020 and thus excluded in the 2020 overall measure calculations. Caution should be exercised when interpreting the results over time.

Accountability Pillar one-page overall summary for 2020 for each public, separate and Francophone school authority. Each sheet includes the current year results, as well as results for the previous year, a three-year rolling average, and provincial summary results for comparison. The Accountability Pillar gives school boards a consistent way to measure their success and assess progress using a broad spectrum of measures. Reporting results allows Albertans to see how their school authority is performing and ensures that the entire education system is open and accountable. Participation in provincial achievement tests (PATs) and diploma examinations were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. There is no October update of the AP results for these two measures. The May 2020 (Revised) overall summaries reflect the AP data released in May 2020 and the absence of the PAT and diploma examinations results in 2019/20.

The Accountability Pillar gives schools and school boards a consistent way to measure their success and assess progress using a broad spectrum of measures. This summary is part of a larger set of Accountability Pillar results used by schools and school boards in the development of their 3-year education plans. Participation in provincial achievement tests (PATs) and diploma examinations were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The May 2020 (Revised) overall summaries reflect the Accountability Pillar data released in May 2020 and the absence of the 2019/20 PAT and diploma examination results.
