Environmental assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed Suncor Energy Inc. Base Mine Extension. The Project consists of an oil sand mine and associated activities as an extension of the Base Plant operation near Fort McMurray, Alberta. The Project includes an open pit mining operation supplying oil sands to new bitumen froth production facilities (primary extraction). Bitumen froth would be delivered by pipeline to Base Plant for further processing, including secondary extraction and upgrading into various product blends for market. Further integration between the Project and Base Plant includes utilities and water systems. There would be external and in-pit tailings areas on the Project footprint. These facilities would be constructed with a combination of overburden and coarse tailings deposits. Environmental assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed Syncrude Canada Ltd. Mildred Lake Mine Extension (MLX). Proposal consists of two additional mining areas and affiliated perimeter features within and adjacent to the current operating and approved mining areas. The project is designed to sustain bitumen production levels at the Mildred Lake facility after depletion of the current approved mining areas, which is expected in 2024. Environmental assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed Canadian Natural Resources Limited Grouse In Situ Oil Sands Project. The proposal includes the use of steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) technology for extraction of bitumen, a bitumen processing facility with a capacity of 50,000 barrels per day (7,949 m3/d) and a production life of approximately 20 years. The location is approximately 75 kilometres northeast of Lac La Biche, Alberta in Lac La Biche County. The EIA was deemed complete in 2015.
