Description

Environmental Impact Assessment and associated applications pertaining to the proposed Canadian Natural Resources Limited Pike 2 project (formerly Devon Canada Corporation). Canadian Natural is proposing a new in situ oil sands project in the Southern Athabasca Oil Sands region. To recover bitumen resources from the McMurray formation, steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) technology and diluent co-injection and cogeneration would be employed. The Project would include a central processing facility (CPF), well pads, source water and disposal well sites, pipelines, roads and power lines. Environmental Impact Assessment and associated applications pertaining to the proposed Canadian Natural Resources Limited Horizon North Pit Extension. The proposal is to develop a northeast mine pit extension (NPE Project) to sustain production rates of the approved North Mine Pit at the Horizon Oil Sands Processing Plant and Mine. The project is expected to include the following changes to the Horizon Mine: extension of the approved north mine pit to include the NPE Project area (1,015 ha); additional overburden storage areas (2,396 ha); and updated closure and reclamation plans. Environmental Impact Assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed Suncor Energy Inc. Lewis project. The proposal is for in situ extraction with an estimated total bitumen production of 160,000 bpd and an operational life of up to 40 years. The project would be developed in four phases, supported by cogeneration of electricity to be constructed within the first two phases. Project components include gas fired steam generation including some cogeneration, water treatment and recycling, bitumen treatment, multi-well production pads, steam delivery pipelines, product recovery pipelines, local access roads, and borrow pits. Environmental Impact Assessment and associated applications pertaining to the proposed MEG Energy Corp. May River project. The project would target bitumen resources in the McMurray Formation using steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) technology. It would be developed over three phases with a total planned capacity of about 26 000 m3 per day (164,000 bbl/d). The project would consist of three central processing facilities, natural-gas-fired cogeneration at Phases 1 and 3, associated field facilities, and related infrastructure. Environmental Impact Assessment and associated applications pertaining to the proposed Syncrude Canada Ltd. Mildred Lake Mine Extension (MLX). Proposal consists of two additional mining areas and affiliated perimeter features within and adjacent to the current operating and approved mining areas. The project is designed to sustain bitumen production levels at the Mildred Lake facility after depletion of the current approved mining areas, which is expected in 2024.
