Environmental assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed Parsons Creek Aggregates Parsons Creek Aggregates Limestone Quarry Project. The proposal is for a limestone quarry with production rates of 500,000 tonnes per year initially with potential for peak production rate of 2.5 million tonnes per year in the future. The location is north of the Fort McMurray Urban Service Boundary and between Hwy 63 and the Athabasca River within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. The EIA was deemed complete in 2013. Landowners have specific rights with regard to seismic operations. The Farmers’ Advocate Office (FAO) has prepared this publication to provide information in response to questions about seismic activity. It is important to note that a seismic operator may enter onto deeded property only after obtaining consent of the owner of the land or a person authorized by the owner to give that consent. The exception to this, is for geophysical operations associated with carbon capture and storage developments and is addressed later in the document. No other government agency has the authority to grant access for seismic operations on deeded land. Therefore, it is entirely up to the landowner to negotiate the specific terms of the contract to ensure that his/her interests are protected.
