This document is a general guide to assist unlicensed home-based child care providers in Alberta and provides recommendations and best-practices for providing child care in a home-based setting. Under the Early Learning and Child Care Act, anyone providing child care for more than six children in addition to their own requires a child care licence issued by the Government of Alberta. The information contained in this document is not intended as legal or professional advice; unlicensed child care providers are solely responsible for ensuring that all applicable laws and standards are followed.
