This fact sheet outlines amendments to Alberta’s Wildlife Regulation to designate wood bison as a Threatened wild species in specified Wildlife Management Units in the province. These amendments aim to protect populations of wild wood bison and enable their conservation and recovery for the benefit of all Albertans.

Also included are areas delineated for provincial parks, provincial wildland and wilderness parks, First Nations Reserves and Metis Settlements, zones where hunting is restricted or prohibited, bird and wildlife sanctuaries, ecological reserves, areas with special vehicle and/or weapons restrictions and other special land-use areas across the province.
