In September 2009 the Alberta Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association (ARHCA) and the Government of Alberta signed a greenhouse gas memorandum of understanding. The parties agreed to work together to enable the road building and heavy construction industry to improve energy efficiency, improve industry and the province's competitiveness, and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This report presents an overview of the activities, initiatives and accomplishments under the MOU that ended December 31, 2012.

The objective of this MOU is to develop a framework in which AENV, TRAN and the ARHCA can work together to facilitate strategies for GHG emissions reductions that enable the industry to adjust to a carbon constrained future and help Alberta meet the targets set out in the 2008 Climate Change Strategy and the Provincial Energy Strategy.
